Taj-Ma-Chick

Lydia, Sarah, Collin, and Mason came up from Arizona, we had so much fun together with everyone! Thursday we went to Park City...7 children and 4 adults going out to lunch. Now that's a party.

Big sleep over in the familyroom!

But it hasn't been all play.....

Building a home for the Chickens has been a family event/adventure...everybody helps! There are lots of boards that need nailing...

Bending steel for the foundation (of course, doesn't every chicken house foundation have steel?

So many screws...Colling and Mason loved helping Dylan with the screw gun!

Even Lydia got down and dirty building the form for the foundation.

You can tell that Fisher gene!

Of course after all that work some of us had to rest up... and play around.

The roof takes up most of the room in the garage, it will take at least six people to lift it into place...but we are not ready for that yet.

The house has a coat of primer, and 2 nice big 'picture windows' for viewing in (or out). The inside needs a good coat of paint, doors, windows, vents, and the nest boxes finished and installed.

The foundation is finished and 'curing', Jef leaves for a month in Ghana this week so the deluxe chicken accomodations will have to wait and we will need to come up with a temporary plan B, the chickens are growing so fast! While Sarah, Collin, and Mason were here they figured out names for the chicks. I had to write the names and descriptions on a note and stick it to their box to help me remember which one is who. The hard ones were the two yellow ones who look exactly alike so we just named them both Henrietta..seemed easier.

Lydia and Rose worked on some fun projects on Friday (besides the chicken coop). Saturday they helped to mix and pour the concrete for the foundation and then everyone, including Grandpa and Grandma Pat gathered for a great soup and salad dinner at Dave and Kara's new house with plenty of room for the big crowd! It has been a wonderful week!
