End of April Already?

I sure don't know where that time went, I guess not working for a living has kept me pretty busy.

I spent a day down in Orem with Dad, we went over chapter 6 of his history and it was so fun and interesting. I hope to be able to go down for another day and do chapter 7. I had a very pleasant day.

We had a Nix Cousins Reunion on the 18th. It was very fun to get to visit with my cousins and we had a great turn out. Aunt Pat and Mary (Nix) Robison were both able to come, they are both extremely ill, Aunt Pat with heart problems and Mary with cancer. It was wonderful to see them and have the opportunity to sit and visit. After the pot luck dinner we sat around to hear Dad, Dona, Wendell, and Pat reminisce about their childhood and tell stories. It was even more meaningful when Jef and I were working on the book shelves at the Bungalow and discovered a 1897 dime tucked inside on a ledge. Judging by where it was we figured someone had hidden it away to save it and then forgot all about it, but during the years Dad was growing up that dime would have been a significant piece of change!

I drove down to Arizona on the 19th to visit Lydia and be her patient. It is an 8 hour drive but when I am listening to a book on CD's the time goes really fast. I still have some story left, so if anyone needs me to drive up ... I'm prepared! Lydia did a great job cleaning my teeth and my gums weren't sore at all, she also has a wonderful chair-side manner so I enjoyed myself even though getting my teeth cleaned is not usually my first choice for an activity. I also got to spend time watching Mason while everyone else was at school or work, we had a great time! I drove home on Thursday, so it was a short trip but I had a good time.

While I was in Arizona I got a call from Butch to let me know that Bryan had to have quadruple bypass surgery. It was a very tense time for their family but he is doing very well even though recovery is slow for such serious surgery but the doctor says his heart is good as new. I got to talk to him today and he sounds tired but still has his sense of humor!

So I have about 2 weeks at home to take care of the yard work. I have worked at the Bungalow pulling weeks and working in the yard. I have filled both garbage cans twice now and I am not done yet. Today I am going to venture out into the wilderness of the front yard here at Brighton Point and see what I can do to sharp it up. Thankfully Dylan is feeling burned out from all his school work and is willing to give me a hand for a couple of hours.

We also spent Saturday up in Oxford with Jean. It has been a long time since we were there, it was a little chilly outside but we enjoyed visiting with Mom and checking out her family history work.

Jef and I have worked hard at the Bungalow. The livingroom/dining room ceiling are almost all finished and we have hopes of painting the walls after we get all the old paint scraped off the woodwork. We have also begun to restore the leaded glass windows, that has become an interesting project since we are learning as we go but it is really fun and creative as well as something new for us to work on. Now I want to do leaded glass windows everywhere! So much fun, so little time. Jef keeps reminding me of all the things we should really do FIRST but that list is just too long to contemplate.

I am looking forward to spending 2 weeks with Gavin and Lucy while Emily and Austin go to Germany, and then it will be almost June. Incredible! Hopefully Sam and Heather can come up to visit while I'm there, Emily says the weather is beautiful and warm. Sounds good to me.
